[CF045] Sage Taylor – Satellite LP

Released on Sunday 2nd May 2010 at https://www.thecentrifuge.co.uk, free download.

Satellite is an album of luscious drones, rich in texture and character. At times its warmth envelops, at others the cosmic freeze that inspires the album overcomes.

    Artist Profile: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Sage+Taylor
Portland, Oregon musician Sage Taylor has been experimenting with sound and electronics as a hobby for over a decade, and has tapped into a wide range of styles in the electronic music spectrum throughout the years. His present-day output is likely to touch on quiet ambient music, soft, melodic IDM or dubbed out ambient techno, but the goal remains the same as always: to create new and interesting compositions for people to zone out to.

The Centrifuge is back in Berlin with a mammoth lineup to celebrate the summer and a huge dose of acid landing in the city. This is to celebrate our “Acid Futures” a double-volume acid spectacular that is landing in June. First copies available on the night, come down early and we might just be giving a present or two away too!

And so to our guests…we are mighty pleased to welcome braindance legend GLOBAL GOON to the fold. Having been an core part of the Rephlex phenomenon in the 90s, he has recently reinvented himself (in conjunction with his SYNTHEME recording alias) as the master of raunchy, slick acid primed for the dancefloor and raw disco-fuelled booty shaking energy.

NHK BS is from even further afield – Osaka-based Kouhei Matsunaga is touring Europe following the release of 4 seminal LPs on Important Records, including collaborations with Mika Vainio (Pan Sonic) and Sean Booth (Autechre). With more from his NHK project due on Raster-Noton soon, Kouhei is on a roll.

Also live for the first time in Berlin: CHEVRON is the English Planet Mu, Wrong Music and Ad Noiseam veteran, 303 tweaker and all-round dancefloor daddy. HERV jets in from Dublin to show us how the Irish like their rave with his recent releases on Cock Rock Disco and The Centrifuge warranting preparation for a rinseout of epic proportions. TECHDIFF joins us for an all-out precision sonic demolition!

The Centrifuge’s residents are in effect too – Nexus makes his debut as EUTECHNIK and MISSAW is on hand to spin some merry ditties for your listening enjoyment.

    Dear friends,

we are really glad to announce, that despite the recent events around WMF’s closing last week, our party will take place on the 26th of March. And we got even better news for you! We extended the line-up, so that you can expect even more bass from the grand seignior of post-rave Cylob and Berlin’s own high-priest of bass Ziggy! We moved the event to the „Goldener Saal“ (inside Tacheles) and thanks to the help of BlackBoxMusic we will have a pretty sweet PA to stimulate your ears. Expect a night full of braindance, squarestep, ghettodub and jungletech!
Now it’s your turn: Show up and dance! We are looking forward to it.

    Cheers,
    Bass Contortion & The Centrifuge

    -INFO-

We are proud to present you the first german show of Wisp, Aphex Twin’s favourite artist and Rephlex Records new poster child! His profile exploded last year after his two highly-anticipated albums Rephlex Records emerged, revealing new electro/techno influences to his sound that is tweaked to move feet, tickle minds and break hearts on the dancefloor. Come and see what the fuss is about!
Making music since 1993, most of Cylob’s records can be called timeless masterpieces. He released on legendary labels, collaborated with legendary artists and he is, without hesitation, a legend himself. Expect nothing less from his sets.
With them on stage will be Hecq, Berlin’s bass boy-wonder. His musical oeuvre makes him one of Germany’s leading electronic artists, with albums discovering the fields of post-rave electronica to contemporary classical music. His upcoming EP on Ad Noiseam will set new standards in what we know today as Dubstep.

Furthermore the united force of the Contortion and The Centrifuge crew will entertain you throughout the night, too. Puzzle is our man from Sweden, bringing psychedelic hip-hop glitch-beats to the masses, Ziggy is as jiggy as usual and will contort your synapses with his bass extravaganza, Jade Monkey will show you that dubstep is an anagram for „freak-out“ and Missaw will bring the funk in bottles and pour in everyone who is ready to boogie down.

  • The Centrifuge Radio Show TONIGHT 10pm GMT with Nic TVG mix

The Centrifuge Radio Show returns tonight at 10pm GMT with an exclusive guest mix from Pinecone Moonshine’s Nic TVG. PCMS has been one of my favourite labels over the last couple of years, putting out glitch-laden, edit-heavy yet atmospheric and emotional drumfunk/jungle on both net-only and physical releases, including material from Macc & dgoHn, Fanu, Parallel, Fracture, Takeshi Nakamura and of course Nic himself, not to mention his releases on Black Hoe, Syncopathic, Materializm and Subvert Central Digital. He describes the mix as ‘drum funk, dnb, ambient, and a touch of free jazz’, and to celebrate i’ll have a cd copy of the PCMSCD001 – Sanity and Soundness compilation (featuring Fanu, Inbunshi & Indijinous, Macc & dgoHn, Parallel and Nic TVG) to give away during the show.

Speaking of competitions, now is the time to give you a heads up about our next show. We’re linking up with Once Upon A Festival in Belgium (www.onceuponafestival.be) crew, and as well as guest mixes from Oxynucid and Acidburp – both of whom are performing at the festival – we’ll have 5 PAIRS of tickets to give away to listeners, both those listening live and those who check the archives. Not only that, but we’ll be broadcasting LIVE from the festival on Thursday April 15th. Set your diaries for that one!

The Centrifuge returns to London after a half-year hiatus from club nights, in which time they have taken their quirky brand of challenging yet accessible live electronic music to the global stage. Having upped sticks and moved HQ to Berlin at the start of 2010, the good word has been spreading far and wide. Now they are back in their old stomping ground with nothing less than a stellar lineup to celebrate the climax and finale of WISP’s first European Tour of the new decade.

And what a decade it is shaping up to be for WISP! Hailing from Niagra Falls in the USA, his profile exploded last year after his first two highly-anticipated albums for Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label emerged, revealing new electro/techno influences to his sound that is tweaked to move feet, tickle minds and break hearts on the dancefloor. 2009 also saw 2 huge UK shows with Aphex Twin and a North American tour with Venetian Snares, both of which are amongst his biggest fans. Come and see what the fuss is about!

As if that wasn’t enough, we have another FOUR (count ’em!) live acts in support of Wisp. RIVAL CONSOLES makes the first appearance of many under The Centrifuge’s banner, bringing his ultra-catchy synth lines and funked-up drum machine workouts. A true star in the making. MRS JYNX touches down from Manchester with her timeless take on pastoral electronica, retro-electro melody wizard OXYNUCID is exlusively road testing this summer’s festival live set and ROTODRONE plays his first-ever live show, previewing his amazing new album forthcoming on The Centrifuge. missaw provides DJ support for the main attractions.

In Room 2, the ever-excellent electronic music blog null+void present a lineup bridging the gap between electro, acid, dubstep and drum’n’bass with Militant Science head honcho PAUL BLACKFORD and SCRASE performing live alongside hardware fiend TUDOR ACID and DJs Ursa and Kiersty.

Room 3 is hosted by Neon Skullz & Pollinate Records…Bad bwoy tribalmashupbashment. Japanese dubtronic genius duo DOKKEBI Q lay down a tasty headline show just before their debut album is released! THIS ROOM IS: global ghetto beats slashed, smashed and slammed against fuck off ragga-tronics and blistering bassline bubblers!

    Artist Profile: http://agency.thecentrifuge.co.uk/mark-swift/
An erstwhile member of the Sublight roster after his “discovery” by Aaron Funk, this no-nonsense Yorkshireman has been reborn as a live demon since he joined The Centrifuge in summer 2008. His mix of crunchy amen-oriented breakbeats and zany, intricate, often organ-based melodies has won him over an ever-increasing following. With a series of 5 acclaimed EPs (the Melodynonstop Collection) released through The Centrifuge in 2009 and more to come this year, there seems no stopping him.
