  • Support Us If You Can!

As you might have guessed, running a free label and non-commercial events isn’t exactly a shortcut to a pot of gold, quite the opposite in fact. So if you like what we do, and can spare a little bit of cash it would make all the difference to us! We want to keep releasing music for free, we believe that open-source music is one of the best ways forward to revitalise the music industry, especially in a less commercial scene such as experimental electronic music. Any help you can give is appreciated, whether its spreading the word about our releases and events, coming down to our shows and saying hello or cold, hard, sweet cash.

As a token of our appreciation, if you can donate over £5 (UK peeps) or over £10 (EU/Rest of World), and give us your postal address, we’ll send you a mixture of exclusive digital and real-world goodies that can’t be gotten at any other way. Can’t say fairer than that huh??

    Full members free / P.A.Y.G. members free before 8pm, £6 before 10pm, £8 after / 7pm – 3am

The Centrifuge (www.thecentrifuge.co.uk) takes over the last Saturday of June while I Love Acid has a breather till July. Expect all the acid you could ever hope for from Brighton’s rave king Chevron and a host of ultra-talented live acts like Odan, Oxynucid, Captain Chaos and Quip that have set the netlabel scene alight in the past 12 months.

Chevron LIVE (Planet Mu, Ad Noiseam, 030303)
    www.chevvers.com
Brighton’s acid rave king Chevron touches down for his Ginglik debut to lay down some seriously infectious floor-filler 303 basslines fresh off the back of his excellent track “Excursions” released on the ultra-cool 030303 label and an equally rinsing number “St Matthew” on The Centrifuge netlabel.

    Oxynucid LIVE (The Centrifuge)
    www.myspace.com/oxynucid
A classically-trained musician with golden fingers, Oxynucid aka Dominick Schofield is fast making a name for himself in electronic music. Having spent 10 years playing keys in an electro-indie band that made it big, he left to pursue his solo career. Barely moments later, he signed to The Centrifuge and has released a string of acclaimed EPs and tracks, combining his electro tendencies and braindance influences to shape wondrous pieces of lush melodic electronics. You aren’t gonna see too many reel-to-reel players and Korg MS-10s on stage either – live electronics can be real, and Oxynucid’s sets have been the highlight of many a Centrifuge show.

    Odan LIVE (Net-lab)
    www.myspace.com/0dan
Odan is a London-based electro don with some impressive advanced acid productions in the pipeline which he will be premiering on the night. Also a couple of netlabel EP’s to his name back in the hayday of Net-lab. One to watch!

    Quip LIVE (The Centrifuge, STFU)
    www.quipmusic.co.uk
Experiments in small suburban bedroom, playing guitar in a punk band, classical guitar, show band, making tracks with a one second sampler, getting my first PC and rinsing the Soundblaster card, working to pay for equipment, making tracks on trains, in basements and in peoples houses, more bands, loss of my music partner, learning how to write tunes, recording the guitar, making sounds with the guitar that doesn’t sound like the guitar, working as a sound engineer, doing lots of gigs, working to pay for equipment, moving house, splitting up with long term girlfriend, making more music, releasing music for I Can Count, Hippocamp, more gigs, working with STFU collective, teaching music technology, moving house, making more music, working to pay for equipment, joining some more bands, doing some music for the Centrifuge and Inaudible Answer making music for tv and film, doing more gigs….

    Idiron Soundtrack LIVE (The Centrifuge)
    www.myspace.com/idironsoundtrack

Idiron Soundtrack has been responsible for several full-on electro / snare-rush live sets at The Centrifuge’s music events and the epic Manifest Sounds EP (CF009). Originally from Bristol and trained in violin and piano, elements from hyper jungle to squelchy acid are fused through an intricate and emotive approach toward composition that conjures goosebumps and rave mentalism in equal measure. He will be showcasing new material from his forthcoming EP (‘turbo kiisu’).

    Myoptik LIVE (The Centrifuge)
    www.myspace.com/myoptik

Celebrating the release of CF023 – “Allusion To Dance” EP at www.thecentrifuge.co.uk.
For 10 years myoptik has been a radio presenter, dj, music journalist, producer and event promoter based in not-so-sunny Leicester. Live performance is Myoptik’s natural home with appearances in all sorts of places, under all sorts of musical guises and monikers at events such as the Sonic Arts Network, Summer Sundae, Monastery Of Sound and Delia Derbyshire’s old home. Myoptik is also known for his vibrant Leicester based PVC club nights and his ping-discs imprint both of which pioneered his trademark live Funkatronix sound.
He has worked with the likes of BJ Cole, Chin Chin, I-mitri, Phaelah and Normal Position. On his own his musical demeanor tends towards a wild maelstrom of gutural bleep-funk and emotive soundscapes, accompanied by a glass of rum..

missaw is The Centrifuge’s label curator & resident remixer, creating electronic concoctions for the body and the mind.

    Kone-r
    www.unchartedaudio.com
Kone-r is the man behind the Uncharted Audio record label, which has introduced the likes of Cursor Miner, LJ Kruzer, Kings Have Long Arms and plenty of other weird and wonderful sonic tomfoolery to the world. Manning the turntables since 1992 when he discovered the joy of warehouse raves, the spirit of that era lives on in his sets today, with a liberal sprinkling of ambience, techno, breakbeats and plenty of low frequency oscillations. Despite the length of time he’s spent in the booth, he maintains a cutting edge – you’re as likely to hear him drop fresh dub plates by up and coming acts alongside the latest cuts from Berlin to Detroit as you are to hear vintage rave, classic disco and timeless electro. What’s more, every Kone-R set is expertly mixed entirely on vinyl to preserve audio and artistic integrity – just like in the good old days.

    Artist Comments:

The EP begins with the reversed sound of the ending of the 2005 album, representative of a return to the ideals of my “proper” music. You might say “That’s one hell of an opening sentence, I haven’t even heard of you, what’s more you’re putting words in my mouth. You’ve created this fictitious character which is an unfair portrayal of me, and now you think you can justify it by making the character mention this for confusing/comic effect”. To which I would reply “Wow, you said exactly as I predicted in my description of my EP, I will reply with this, to complete the circle of self-reference so we can get on with the description”.

Sorry. Why a return to the melodic complexities was so vital is that I had completed a few projects since then that were far from pretty. One of which had gone on to be 624% more popular than my “real” music (The Tesco Value Gabba EP, to which, like a contradicting schizoid idiot I am now writing the sequel, as well as yet more Jungle & Dubstep, what am I like.)

Wowmwowmwowm Song is a happy number based on an unearthed loop that had remained buried amongst the unfinished file mountain since 2003. Further Hearts and Snow/Glitter/Data 3 are continuations/developments of previous themes (cashing in on my “hits”). Landscape Android (my ambient pseudonym who hasn’t lifted a finger in 4 years) pops in for a little light relief before the thrashing twisted darkness of Wick. Day After Day stutters along in a peculiar rhythm with depressed melodies underneath that sometimes crash to the surface, ending in a psychedelic snoop-hop fade-out.

Melody is something so important to me and I feel the balance is often swung in the favor of releases focusing on timbre/rhythmic complexities that often forego descernable/traditional melody. I love that stuff to bits too, but if you’re looking for decent progressive melody based electronic music you can sometimes be dis-heartened by the vast quantities of releases that sound lush but stay in the same minor chord for the whole album, or centre around heaviness/percussion. It makes it a joyous occasion when I find someone who can meld incredible production with melodic inventiveness. I certainly don’t profess to belong in this category, owing to an often slapdash production in favor of getting tunes out quicker, but I hope someone out there enjoys this tipping of the balance.

    CF022 – Sadistician – No-One Likes An Idiot EP

Released on Sunday 10th May 2009 at https://www.thecentrifuge.co.uk

An all-out aural assualt from The Centrifuge and Braincore‘s electronic extremist Sadistician. This is a concept release, 4 tracks of axe-grinding against those who have wronged him. This is mashed-up post-breakcore/gabber with occidental trumpet solos, screams and growls and a healthy dose of cynicism.
