Glatze’s self-titled debut EP is a fun and frenetic ride through his self-proclaimed Romany Surf Step style. Bored with people taking themselves too seriously Glatze has set out to make you smile, and dance around like a twat. Capturing the energy and humour of his live performances this EP is sure to provoke some reaction in you. We’ve certainly never heard anything quite like it before.

    Artist Profile:
    http://www.glatze.co.uk // http://www.mrunderwood.co.uk

Glatze is one of the many facades of multi-(instru)mentalist and musical instrument designer Mr.Underwood. He is the antidote to dark nights and self-loathing, with his fun at all costs approach to music making and live performance. Through his many live appearances, including at Supersonic 2009, Glatze has amused and excited crowds, with his orgy of sound emanating from his homemade hardware, circuit-bent dolls and squealing guitars. If it’s a broad smile and a tapping foot you are after, Glatze is the man for you!

    What people are saying:
“It’s great stuff! I’ve never really heard anything like it. Sure, it’s music, and it sounds like a lot of stuff, but there is a unique voice, and it’s good!” John McCaig, Panic Studios

“I have had a listen to your tracks, and think they are great! You have a very original direction.” BJ Cole

    Credits:
All music is written, performed and produced by Sam Underwood**
** Theremin and female vox on Café Vixen by Ms Hypnotique
** Heavily butchered midi-file for “Glatze” originally downloaded from http://www.cacivorba.pl/
** Drums on “Girls” is sampled from Prairie Home Invasion, by Jello Biafra and Mojo Nixon
I would like to thank the aforementioned for thier musicianship and support.
    Mastering by Panic Studios
I owe many others thanks too…you know who you are!

  • [LDN] 02/07 “O Baile” hits London with RIVAL CONSOLES & MISSAW

Madame and Lumin’s “O Baile” wil be returning to London’s Islington Metal Works on the 2nd of July with a truly exceptional lineup.

Headlined by two up-and-coming portuguese acts – Oporto’s :papercutz and lisbon’s Octa Push and with support from Matthew Hawtin , Rival Consoles and Missaw – this is one north london bash you can’t afford to miss.

:papercutz are a young band from Oporto, Portugal, that sprang from the imagination of lead songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Bruno Miguel. The band’s sublime blend of acoustic textures and electronica has seen them win an award at London’s prestigious People’s Music Awards, gain praise from BBC presenter Anne Nightingale and XFM’s Eddy Temple-Morris and win second place in the Dance/Electronica category in the International Sonwriting Competition.

Octa Push, whose unique sunshine infused dubstep has seen them go down a storm at such venues as the legendary fabric, festivals like Sonar and Glade, among many others,.They earned the respect of luminaries such as Thom Yorke and Buraka Som Sistema. The unstoppable duo will once again grace “O Baile” with their highly eclectic and energetic live act.

Matthew Hawtin is the younger brother of legendary techno mastermind Richie Hawtin. Matthew is a member of the Minus record label family and a world renowned visual artist to boot. His DJ sets bridge the gap between ambient and big room beats, an explosive formula which has laid waste to many a dancefloor around the world.

Rival Consoles is the stage name of London-based IDM producer Ryan Lee West. The 23 year old techno whizkid has already made a name for himself with his quirky, elaborate productions that caught the ear of oscar-nominated composer Nico Muhly who requested a Rival Consoles remix one of his tracks. His performance at the Tate Britain Museum drew a crowd of over 2000 punters, he is currently working on a full length album and he will be bringing his modern yet amazingly catchy brand of intelligent dance music to “O Baile”.

Last but not least, is Missaw founder of The Centrifuge record label and DJ extraordinaire. His rollercoaster sets are equal parts electro, electronica, acid and glitch. Missaw divides his time between London, Berlin and Yorkshire but managed to make room in his busy schedule to spin a few records at the next edition of “O Baile”.

With a great venue and a truly exciting lineup, “O Baile” at Islington Metal Works on Friday the 2nd of July is shaping up to be a great way to kick off the great british summer.

The Centrifuge is back in Berlin with a mammoth lineup to celebrate the summer and a huge dose of acid landing in the city. This is to celebrate our “Acid Futures” a double-volume acid spectacular that is landing in June. First copies available on the night, come down early and we might just be giving a present or two away too!

And so to our guests…we are mighty pleased to welcome braindance legend GLOBAL GOON to the fold. Having been an core part of the Rephlex phenomenon in the 90s, he has recently reinvented himself (in conjunction with his SYNTHEME recording alias) as the master of raunchy, slick acid primed for the dancefloor and raw disco-fuelled booty shaking energy.

NHK BS is from even further afield – Osaka-based Kouhei Matsunaga is touring Europe following the release of 4 seminal LPs on Important Records, including collaborations with Mika Vainio (Pan Sonic) and Sean Booth (Autechre). With more from his NHK project due on Raster-Noton soon, Kouhei is on a roll.

Also live for the first time in Berlin: CHEVRON is the English Planet Mu, Wrong Music and Ad Noiseam veteran, 303 tweaker and all-round dancefloor daddy. HERV jets in from Dublin to show us how the Irish like their rave with his recent releases on Cock Rock Disco and The Centrifuge warranting preparation for a rinseout of epic proportions. TECHDIFF joins us for an all-out precision sonic demolition!

The Centrifuge’s residents are in effect too – Nexus makes his debut as EUTECHNIK and MISSAW is on hand to spin some merry ditties for your listening enjoyment.
