ENGLISH Instant Classic, also called Selected Unknown Abstract Drill And Bass Instant Classic, brings together the 9 pieces composed by Joel-Aimé between 2001 and 2004 in parallel with his studies in Electroacoustic Composition at the Montreal Conservatory.

Tracklist:

РHello, My Name Is Joel-Aim̩ (2003) An experiment in polyrhythmy, where the rhythm section stays at a constant tempo while the melody slows down or speeds up, gradually or suddenly, and all of it with a carnival atmosphere.

– L’Eclectively Quick Dance Mix Vol.1 (2003) A humorous reminiscence of dance music from the first half of the 90s.

– Cheap Shot (2002) I was paid $20 to do this remix of a children’s TV show theme.

– Buddy Rush (2002) Composition based on a 12-minute recording of Buddy Rich compressed to 45 seconds using a high speed CD player. This was my first assignment using PropellerHead Reason at the Montreal Conservatory.

– Fruity Looped (2003) Composed over 4 months at the rate of 4 bars per evening after class, Fruity Looped is an homage to the repulsive library samples of FLStudio 3 such as the horrible Plunk, the disgraceful TS404, the seductive but clumsy Hip Hop Drum Kit and the infamous 3OSC.

– L’Eclectively Quick Danse Mix Vol.2 (2003) A humorous reminiscence of trance music from the first half of the 90s. – Abstract Drum And Bass Classic (2004) Drum, bass and melody with the stereotypical snares of the second half of the 90s. Twisted and efficient.

– Electric Block Brick (2002) There was meant to be a violin part in here… but when I played it to the violinist in the studio, he ran away…

РJoel-Aim̩ au pays des chinois (2004) (Joel-Aim̩ in the land of the Chinese) Composed using samples of Vietnamese restaurant music.

– Super Mario Making Love To Peach (Happy End Mix) (2005) A reprise of the star song from Super Mario Bros. – Drum Kit Orgy (2005) A straight abstract drum and bass track, so as to stay on form, in this beautiful autumn afternoon, being as commissions in this genre are increasingly rare. The main theme is a permutation of the song “My Favourite Things”.

FRANCAIS Instant Classic, aussi nommé Selected Unknown Abstract Drill And Bass Instant Classic, regroupe les 9 morceaux composés par Joel-Aimé entre 2001 et 2004 en parallèle à ses études en Composition Électroacoustique au Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal. Il constitue ses premières expérimentations sur le timbre, le rythme, la polyphonie, la mélodie et l’arrangement. Tracklist: – Hello, My Name Is Joel-Aimé (2003) Une expérience sur la polyrythmie, où la section rythmique reste à un tempo constant alors que la section mélodique ralentit ou accélère de façon progressive ou par strate, le tout sur un air de carnaval. – L’Eclectively Quick Dance Mix Vol.1 (2003) Réminiscence à caractère humoristique de musique Dance de la première moitié des années 90. – Cheap Shot (2002) On m’a payé 20$ pour que je fasse ce remix de chanson thème d’émission de télévision pour enfant. (Québec) – Buddy Rush (2002) Composé à partir d’un enregistrement de Buddy Rich de 12 minutes compressée dans le temps à 45 secondes au moyen d’un lecteur Cd en avance rapide. Fut mon premier devoir de PropellerHead Reason au Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal. – Fruity Looped (2003) Composée sur 4 mois au rythme de 4 mesures par soir en rentrant de l’école, Fruity Looped se veut un hommage à la repoussante bibliothèque d’échantillon de FLStudio 3 tels que : l’horrible Plunk, le disgracieux TS404, le séduisant mais maladroit Drum Kit Hip Hop et l’infâme 3OSC. – L’Eclectively Quick Danse Mix Vol.2 (2003) Réminiscence à caractère humoristique de musique Transe de la première moitié des années 90. – Abstract Drum And Bass Classic (2004) Drum, bass et mélodie aux timbres stéréotypés de la seconde moitié des années ‘90. Tordue et efficace. – Electric Block Brick (2002) Il devait y avoir une partie de violon là-dessus… Mais dès sa première écoute en studio, le violoniste s’est sauvé en courant… – Joel-Aimé au pays des chinois (2004) Composé à partir d’échantillons de musique pour restaurant vietnamien. 2 Morceaux en Bonus – Super Mario Makin Love To Peach (an happy ending story mix) (2005) Reprise de la star song de Super Mario Bro. – Drum Kit Orgy (2005) Une straight abstract drum and bass track, pour garder la forme, en cette belle après midi d’automne, les commandes en ce genre ce faisant de plus en plus rares. Le thème principal est une permutation de la chanson « My Favorite Things ». Joel-Aimé
